Talkversity's Code of Conduct 

 

This Code of Conduct establishes a contract between all volunteers and Talkversity. The running of  Talkversity is entirely based on you and your responsibility in fulfilling your duties, as it is purely volunteer-based. As volunteers, your personal integrity is what strengthens and improves the sense of community at Talkversity, for both teachers and students.

 

Joining Talkversity as a volunteer would require you to abide by the following rules/principles:

 

  • You are providing your service voluntarily with no expectation of financial compensation

 

  • You are expected to join your lessons 5 minutes in advance to the scheduled start time

 

  • If you have scheduled appointments and would like to reschedule or cancel, you are expected to give notice at least 24 hours beforehand to the student family 

 

  • You are expected to be respectful, responsible, and courteous to all contributors, whether student, teacher or any family member that may be involved, to model the highest degree of professionalism and care

  • You must keep track of what you have done with your student in each session with a document shared with that section's director

  • You may discontinue your membership as a teacher, partner, etc. any time, just as long as you give us a heads up at least 2 weeks before you actually do so (so we can have enough time to re-pair up your partner/student)

 

  • Have fun! Take this opportunity to carry out and continue your passion and take pride in your voluntary contributions

 

DOs

  • Stay committed to your scheduled appointments

  • Promote friendly conversation and make your partner/student feel welcome

  • Be patient if your partner is struggling or having a hard time

  • Respect and be sensitive to your partner’s boundaries

  • If you understand their native language, translate phrases while still keeping the main conversation in English 

  • Stay in contact with your partner through friendly and professional emails or texts

 

DON'Ts

  • Continue speaking about a personal matter if you notice your partner/student is feeling uncomfortable

  • Swear, shout, or insult any contributor

  • Spam your partner with emails and/or texts that are not relevant to their interests

  • Converse entirely in a language other than English

  • Commit to a program you do not have the time or resources to carry out

 

If it comes to our attention that you are failing to abide by our expectations and principles, we reserve the right to remove you from our platform and membership of Talkversity, though we will attempt to resolve issues personally before doing so.

Talkversity's Privacy Policy

At Talkversity, accessible from talkversity.wixsite.com/home, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Talkversity and how we use it.

If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regards to the information that they shared and/or collect in Talkversity. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.

Information we collect

The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information. The only information we have from you is the ones you directly fill out using the forms you fill out, your login information, or any other way you directly contact us. If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide. When you register for an Account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.

How we use your information

Your information's safety is our number one priority. We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our website

  • Improve, personalize, and expand our website

  • Understand and analyze how you use our website

  • Develop new services, features, and functionality

  • Communicate with you, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the website, and for marketing and promotional purposes

  • Send you emails

  • Find and prevent fraud

Log Files

Talkversity follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information. Our Privacy Policy was created with the help of the Privacy Policy Generator and the Online Privacy Policy Generator.

Advertising Partners Privacy Policies

You may consult this list to find the Privacy Policy for each of the advertising partners of Talkversity.

Third-party ad servers or ad networks uses technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on Talkversity, which are sent directly to users' browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.

Note that Talkversity has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.

Third-Party Privacy Policies

Talkversity's Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.

You can choose to disable cookies through your individual browser options. To know more detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers, it can be found at the browsers' respective websites.

Children's Information

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

Talkversity does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records. The personal information we obtain about children is only what is necessary for us to provide our best services to the child. We collect first name, age, and background about the child so that we may place them with a conversation partner or the appropriate class, our only program where we collect personal information from children. If we happen to collect the personal information without consent, it will be deleted, as will any other information deemed unnecessary. When the child leaves our program, all information will be deleted. After giving consent, parents and guardians can always choose to revoke their consent by emailing info.talkversity@gmail.com. They may also check with us to see what personal information we have stored and may choose to ask us to delete what we have. We highly value the privacy of children and will never disclose the information to third parties unless required to by law. We take reasonable steps to assure your child’s privacy and will only keep their information as long as necessary.
